"So long President Bush, Thank You; Welcome President Obama, Serve Us Well!"

(Originally posted on my FB Site January 19, 2009)

Especially during this season, I am grateful for the involvement, awareness, and passion that has stirred in our Nation, in particular, amongst all of my friends and family. Please, everyone, be free and safe to share. All I ask is that you show respect for those who differ from you, if you choose to comment here. I do not judge, attack, or disrespect anyone. Further, I value each of you more than any difference and choose to not allow the political divide to cause a personal divide. When you share, do so in a way that you help to bring understanding so we can all learn.

My hope is that we can all do better at "hearing" and trying to at least understand the other side's point of view, even if you will never agree. After all, we have 2 ears and 1 mouth for a reason. I hope I can stimulate healthy discussions with less rancor and more kindness and maturity about the differences. United we stand, divided we fall. We can be united in spirit as American Patriots while disagreeing in politcal idealogy. This is part of why America is so great.

Having said that:

Thank you, President Bush for keeping us safe during your tenure. You are not perfect and I do not agree with all of your choices, but I appreciate all the good you DID provide. No President is perfect. But there are many things you did right for which some are unwilling to acknowledge. I acknowledge both the good and bad and say thank you for the good. Keeping us safe is HUGE! I was affected by 9/11 and as I promised then, I will never forget as I know you never do. Thank you - I honor you for your service as I honor the Office no matter who sits in that Seat in the Oval Office.

Welcome to Pres-elect Obama; I am praying for your tenure that it will be a service that will do right for America. I am grateful for the potential of many good things, especially escalating a long over due process of racial healing in our amazing Country. May you represent with honor; I love my Country too much!

** ADDITION:  It is recorded (as indicated here) that I really did want to believe the President Obama would be the centrist he portrayed himself to be.  I WANTED him to do well!!  However, I am not shocked in the slightest that he has greatly disappointed me.  He is EXACTLY all of who I have always known him to be.
